My Approach
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
Carl Rogers

As an Integrative counsellor, I have a deep respect and understanding for your experience of your world and the issues you bring to therapy. I offer a safe place to work through whatever is causing you frustration, anguish and distress. Counselling provides an environment that helps us to understand ourselves as unique individuals, develop a more meaningful sense of self, and achieve greater fulfilment in our lives. My approach facilitates a spirit of enquiry and awareness, and supports you to make different choices in life, which can lead to the possibility of personal change.

My Approach

My understanding of people as complex beings, with unique responses to life, relationships and our environment, informs my relationship with clients. Noticing patterns of behaviour and potential triggers, similarities in relationships and overwhelming events can help to inform us about our underlying beliefs about ourselves and others, often developed outside of our awareness and open to change. I work with individuals and couples, with a variety of issues including but not limited to:

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Emotional Pain

  • Self-esteem

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Family conflicts

  • Trauma

  • Grief and Loss

  • Violence and abuse

  • Difficult Life Transitions

  • Anger issues

  • Self Harm/Suicide

  • Life dissatisfaction/loss of meaning

  • Stress/workplace stress

  • Disordered eating

  • Loneliness/isolation

We all experience difficulties in our lives and I offer one to one counselling for adults. Counselling can be helpful for anyone who wants to make sense of their experiences through exploring feelings, behaviours and thoughts that may be inhibiting or anyone experiencing a problem or issue they wish to resolve. Clients may decide to begin therapy because it can be difficult to talk to friends or family about deeply personal issues, or they may wish to speak to a professional in confidence. Counselling can help you to understand yourself, develop new coping skills, relieve suffering and facilitates change in profound ways.
